Dampers:

A damper is a device that decreases the mechanical oscillations of a system. Dampers slow down and reduce the magnitude of vibratory motions by counteracting the kinetic energy of the oscillations by the viscuous friction of hydraulic fluid in a cylinder through a process known as dampening. One of the damper mounts is connected to the cylinder containing the hydraulic fluid while the other mount is connected to a piston which sits in the cylinder. The damping force is proportional to the velocity of the movement and reacts in the opposite direction thereby counteracting the motion (slowing down the movement) and causing it to absorb energy.
